It was inaugurated by Vineet Parikh, Round Table National President, and Ramya Rajesh, National President of Ladies Circle 23. The academy, sponsored by Coimbatore Round Table Metropolitan 62 and Round Table Circle 23, would function under the auspices of ‘Saranalayam’ on its premises at Kinathukadavu.
According to Chairperson of ‘Saranalayam’ N. Vanitha, the academy will cater to children between the age group of three and 16. Admissions are on and the classes will begin from July second week.
“To begin with, we are admitting 25 students. Special educators have been appointed to teach the children. They will follow a special methodology of teaching based on a unique curriculum. Facilities for speech therapy and physiotherapy will also be available. A clinical psychologist will visit the academy regularly. It is not a residential academy, hence a bus will be organised from Coimbatore to bring the children to the academy,” she said.
Special children from ‘Saranalayam’ would also be taught here. The main focus would be to make the children independent, she added. There were plans to enter into a memorandum of understanding with a special school in the U.S. to upgrade the training to international standards.
