A MIDDLE-AGED man has lived at a 24-hour McDonald’s fast food restaurant for more than two months in the city, Shanghai Evening Post reported today.
The man is migrant worker who would go to work in the daytime and sleep in the evenings at McDonald’s which is located near Tonghexincun Station of Metro Line 1.
He said he preferred McDonald’s to the government relief station. He said he didn’t have enough money to pay for lodging.
The staff said they wouldn’t require the man to leave unless he caused troubles or bothered other customers.
Baoshan Relief Station is willing to offer assistance to the man, providing 15 days of free accommodation or sending his back to his hometown.
A similar case happened in Beijing recently with an unmarried mother with her 9-month-old baby living at a 24-hour KFC fast food restaurant for two months because of poverty.
